In recognition of the fact that teaching students both traditional and simplified Chinese characters from day one can be overwhelming, Volumes 1 and 2 are available in separate simplified- and traditional-character versions, with the texts presented in the alternative character form in the Appendix.
Volumes 3 and 4 include both traditional and simplified characters to expose students to both forms of written Chinese. In the textbook and the workbook, dialogues, vocabulary lists, example sentences, and questions are all shown side-by-side in both formats. In the character workbooks, characters that appear in both traditional and simplified forms are displayed on the page in equal size.
